Athens Solid Waste Franchise CEQA Challenge
Years after awarding the exclusive trash franchise to Athens Services, the city is still fighting over whether that 2021 deal should have undergone environmental review. G.I. Industries, the rival bidder that has sued the city repeatedly, says Athens misled the city and wants a full environmental review; the council directed staff to make the call.
Community Environmental Enhancement Grants
The city awarded $44,973 to 14 local nonprofits and school groups for projects like food recovery, tree planting, and recycling, funded by interest from the Solid Waste Fund.
Historic preservation of City Landmark No. 10, Hillcrest Center
